Matt & Victoria – One Year Anniversary
April 9, 2019
Highlands Ranch, Colorado

What fun it was to get to celebrate a year of marriage with these two! Matt & Victoria have had a pretty big first year of marriage – they bought a house, honeymooned in Thailand, got two kittens, starred in A Chorus Line (Victoria), won the President’s Award for being awesome at his job (Matt), and grew together in love. {I’m their older sister so I get to brag on them, it’s my right} When Victoria asked me if it was crazy to think of wearing her wedding dress for this shoot, I was quick to encourage her to do it! How often do you ever get to wear your wedding dress again? And look this amazing?! It was perfect for using a historical mansion as the venue and brought some serious princess vibes. From taking their engagement photos to getting to take some to celebrate one year of marriage, I feel so blessed to have both of them in our lives.

It’s SO fun to get to see families start and grow. Jameson and my husband have been friends for close to a decade now, so we’ve had the privilege of getting to see Jameson and Rachel go from dating, to married, to starting their own little family of three. Wandering around the grounds of a historic mansion with friends and capturing this huge milestone is definitely my idea of a good Saturday morning. I’m so excited to meet this little guy in February!

Can we talk about how completely photogenic this family is for a second? In all the shots that I took, there wasn’t an unflattering one in the bunch. Which is really impressive with a two-year-old in tow. We met Mike, Jenn and Zoey through some of our best friends, and have gotten to know them while celebrating birthdays, watching football, and exchanging cookies at Christmas. It was so fun to get to do this session, both because we got to chat while we walked around the park, but also because I got to take part in a special announcement!

You may remember Dan and Joanna’s first engagement photo shoot at the gym. As promised, we did a more “traditional” shoot last weekend. It was a lot of fun to explore this nice little park with Dan, Joanna and their dog, Mack. We had to wait out a random rain storm, but the sun came out just in time for us to get some photos in before sundown.

When Molly contacted me to inquire about family photos with her little guy, I was really excited. Now, I might be slightly biased, but I think there’s something really special about the relationship between a mother and son. These two are a beautiful example of that. I also learned about Legoland and got to watch a few races during this shoot, so I’d say that it was a success all the way around.

My brother-in-law Dan is an adventurer, whether it be rock climbing, skiing the Alps, hiking 14ers or using Crossfit to stay in shape. I’ve long said that it would take a very special girl to marry Dan, because some people are not meant to be tamed, but instead, need some one to run wild with them. Enter Joanna. A dancer and aerialist by profession, Joanna is always down to try anything.  With their upcoming marriage, Dan is getting a life-long partner in crime and I’m getting a super fun new sister. Basically, it’s a win-win for everyone. When they asked me to do their engagement photos, I thought it would be fun to try something less traditional and that would showcase their passions and unique talents. Be on the lookout for a more traditional shoot a little later, but for now, here are my favorites from our first session.

A huge thanks to Steve and Ashley at BackCountry Crossfit for letting us use their facility and to Coach Jim for staying late to allow us to get this session done. It’s an awesome box with great people- if you’re into Crossfit or want to try it, you should definitely check them out!

This week, I’m lucky enough to have my grandparents visiting me from California. On a whim, I decided that they needed to have portraits taken as it has been several years since they had professional photos taken of them. So, with no hesitation, I took them out to a park I love for photos and we had a quick mini-session. I might be totally biased, by my grandparents are the cutest!

Many moons ago, Kate used to work with my husband. Her family relocated to the east coast, but they returned to Colorado to spend Thanksgiving with Jason’s family. It was so fun to get to chat with them about their family, baby girl on the way and adventures in missions work. Their sweet daughter has a lot of personality and I love her funny face pictures most of all!
